“First of all let me say that we had a fabulous family vacation at Villa Alegre! Mark was very nice and answered all our questions rapidly. The house is beautiful and has everything you need. The kitchen is organized and has all the appliances you could need to cook any meal. We felt right at home and very comfortable. The bedrooms were very nicely decorated and the beds were also very comfortable. The living room was very cozy with it’s beautiful french doors. The pool is beautiful and super clean and the beach is literally across the street! The trees and vegetation around the place are stunning and beautiful. Now let me tell you about Sergio Castellanos the manager, he is a very kind and super helpful person. He made us feel like family. A very nice man. He is just great as was Mark. I recommend this place 100% and would absolutely want to spend more time at this awesome home away from home in Playacar. Thank you so much Mark and Sergio you guys are awesome!”

“Everything was exactly as described. Beautiful pool, very quiet and peaceful. Yet within walking distance (three blocks) of Central Playa where all the action is! Private beach one block away, never crowded. Spent two weeks enjoying this house and surrounding area.

Playa del Carmen is a great vacation spot for families. Great restaurants, shopping and water sports all nearby. House came with maid service and local contact to deal with any problems (though there were none). Owner was very accommodating, quick to email and very knowledgeable about the local scene. We had a great family vacation. Can’t wait to visit again!”

“Our family of 4 spent a week in this lovely abode. Quiet peaceful secluded neighborhood; BEST LOCATION IN PLAYA…2 minute walk to town, where all the action is. Tons of great inexpensive restaurants nearby where you can have a beer, drink out of a coconut, run your toes through the sand, and munch on some delicious local cuisine. Friendly helpful people everywhere. Felt most safe.

So many options in Playa; go to Blue Parrot and dance the night away, drink tequila with every kind of juice one can think of, or rest and relax in hammock on upstairs deck.

Great place for a family vacation or a getaway for romance, or just to unwind. No stress at this abode!

“After years of going to the big all-inclusive resorts, we were looking for a more authentic Mexico experience. Villa Alegre was absolutely the perfect place. We enjoyed the privacy of the villa, the quiet setting among beautiful trees and flowers, and the close proximity to everything that Playa del Carmen has to offer.

The pool was right at our backdoor, the walk to the beach (one of the most beautiful we’ve seen) took only 2 minutes, and every night, we made ourselves a drink and strolled into town for delicious food and a vibrant nightlife.

We can’t say enough wonderful things about this villa and the time we spent there. We will definitely be returning!”

“Stayed over Christmas and New Years 2015 in this wonderful villa. Nestled in a tropical forest just 50m from the beach and next to mayan ruins. Very intimate and private with a huge pool at our doorstep that our kids loved and was rarely used by others. In ten days we did one excursion because we loved just ganging out by the pool and going to the beach. The villa was fully equipped with great size kitchen, all utensils you will ever need, our host even arranged for groceries upon our arrival. There is wifi, washer dryer, AC in each room, three large rooms plus TV room and two large balconies with hammock. Room enough for everyone to find their little escape. The best part is the location, only 5mins walk to famous 5th ave and the shopping and restaurants. But far away enough that we enjoyed our peace and quiet when needed. The beach is right there and in great condition and not too crowded. The villa was stocked with all the beach chairs, towels, toys, snorkels etc I highly recommend to groups looking for an alternative to the all inclusive. Being able to cook and relax while spending quality time with family was priceless.”

“We just spent a month at Villa Alegre and had a really great stay. The house is in a perfect location, 3 minutes walking to a great beach and 5 minutes to the town square/start of 5th Ave. Even though it was so close to everything, the neighborhood was very quiet in a beautiful jungle setting. We felt very safe with our 2 very young children there. The pool was also lovely and over the month we only saw other people swimming there maybe 5 times. The house was equipped with everything we could’ve needed…kitchen supplies, beach chairs/umbrellas, pack’n’plays for the kids, etc. The property manager, Sergio, was super responsive and helpful. Thanks for a great stay!”

“We loved our stay at Villa Alegre! We were 7 adults and fit comfortably – all real beds. The house is in a quiet little neighborhood (away from the noisy beach parties) but just a very short walk to the beach and restaurants/bars. Plenty of sheets and towels. Cleaning service and local management team was excellent. Highly recommended!”

“The House was absolutely amazing, was very easy to find in a private community blocks from the shopping plaza and the beach. Everything was in working condition and there were plenty of towels for everyone. Washer and dryer were provided. There was a pool and lawn chairs to lay out on also. “You don’t get much better than this for a beach holiday. Villa Alegre is great on the inside, and with really helpful staff / host who can guide you off the beaten track. It’s minutes (walking) from both the beach and the resort. The actual beach is absolutely fantastic – beautiful soft sand, warm water, not too busy but plenty of places close by / on it for supplies. Will be coming back.”

Our group of 6 stayed here for 1 week from March 27 to the 24th. The villa is spacious and well equipped. It has an upstairs balcony with a table, chairs, and hammock as well as a downstairs veranda with table & chairs and is right beside the pool. The pool is wonderful & the water was warm. The grounds are well kept and very quiet. The location is right beside a park that has Mayan Ruins and is only a 3 minute walk to the ocean. The beach there is very nice, not rocky or weedy. A 5 or so minute walk gets you into Playa del Carmen. The evenings are very quiet in this area and we felt very safe the whole time we were there. Sergio was wonderful and stopped in everyday to make sure everything was ok. He also brings purified water to the villa as needed. There are 3 bedrooms, 1 king & 2 queen beds. There is an upstairs living room that also has 2 twin beds for extra people. We would definitely stay here again. We have been to this area of Mexico 7 times & prefer to stay in Playacar. The owner Mark made booking this property nice and easy.

We were a group of 6 adults that stayed at Villa Alegre. The 2 story villa is very well equipped with pretty much everything you need. It is spacious with a large kitchen. The downstairs consists of the kitchen, living room, dining room & master bedroom with bathroom. Two sets of French doors open onto the veranda which has a table & chair set as well as an overhead ceiling fan. The veranda is covered and steps from it take you right to the pool. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms and a living room that also has 2 twin beds. Patio doors lead onto a balcony with a table and chairs & hammock and overlooks the pool. The villa is bright and nicely decorated. We found the beds firm and comfortable. The grounds are very nice with lots of trees and flowering shrubs and the pool is wonderful. The villa is located literally 2 to 3 minutes walk to the ocean. It is about a 5 minute walk to Playa del Carmen. The area is very quiet and relaxing. All of us in our group thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would definitely return again. I have rented 2 other places, one in Playa del Carmen (a penthouse condo on 26th calle & 1st Ave, which was located in Playa del Carmen and very noisy and a lovely house Paseo Shaman Ha in playacar and Villa Alegre is my favorite. We have done the all inclusives as well and we find that we prefer renting a villa as we love the closeness to playa and the freedom you have when you stay in a private home. Mark was wonderful to deal with during the process of renting this lovely villa. Also a huge thank you to Sergio who manages the Villa. He checked in with us at least once per day and brought us drinking water as needed. He is very kind and so nice and helpful. Don’t hesitate in renting this property. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you Mark & Sergio for making our stay so wonderful and relaxing!

Our vacation was 100% family time. We were 9 between adults and children. Kitchen has everything necessary for cooking, rooms are cleaned and comfortable, dining and living rooms are perfect for familiar coexistence, terraces are fresh and beautiful. The house is very close to the pool which is clean and perfect for everybody, swimming stuff is helpful. The condominium is very close to the beach, which is amazing, clean and quiet. 5th AV is very close to the house and you can find any kind of stores, bars and restaurants; a car is not necessary. Sergio was very attentive with us, we had fresh water every day and he was in touch with us all the time as well as his availability for solving problems with the house. In general if you decide to visit PlayaCar as a familiar or group, this Mexican style house is perfect.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Alegre. The location, size, and amenities of this 2-level condo made it a great fit for our family, which included my husband and me, our three-year-old son, and my parents. The condo was spacious, comfortable, and in a lovely complex. The pool was a big hit with our little guy and there was ample gear and toys to take to the beach. We also enjoyed several peaceful outdoor meals on the wraparound porch, which is surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. One of our favorite features of this property was its location. Two blocks east and you’re at the (Playacar) beach, a few blocks north and you’re at the start of the famous 5th Avenue pedestrian street with all of the food, action, and people watching you could ever want. There is also a little trail with Mayan ruins that runs behind the property. Yet the condo itself is far enough removed from the action (and basically on a car-free street) that it’s very quiet and serene. We would stay here again!

Great place, very safe, relaxing and comfortable

The place is perfect! It is big, clean, close to everything you might need. Mark is a great host and Sergio is a fantastic help! If you have a big family and you don’t want to rent a car for the whole stay, you should stay at Mark’s place. Thank you Mark, we had a wonderful time!

The photos of the house don’t do justice. The house is really big and comfortable. The location is outstanding just steps from the beach and couple of blocks to all the action in Playa del carmen. I will definitely rent again Mark’s house when we go there again. I spent three weeks with my family and everyone had great time.
